What’s on your plate?
If you know me outside of Full Spectrum View, then you know I am a major foodie! Knowing that, you probably think this post is going to be about food. Well, spoiler alert: it’s not, sorry! I will be covering my primarily whole food, plant-based diet in future...
Wow, you are so high-functioning for someone with autism!
If you’re a part of the autism community in some way, you’ve probably heard of high-functioning autism, or what used to be known as Asperger’s. Well, that’s technically what I have.
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, basically high-functioning autism means my “symptoms” don’t present as “severely,” meaning I can walk, talk, and do ok in the regular world. Or, at least, that’s how the regular world sees me…What high-functioning really means to me is higher stress.

Can I pet your dog?
Knowing what I know now, it makes so much sense that I was so close to animals. Animals are real, honest, and don’t play games when it comes to how they communicate—basically, they wear their hearts on their sleeves, as the expression goes. People were hard for me to understand, with saying one thing and meaning another, so why not make my best friends animals?
